Join us Friday, June 19, at noon CDT for a free, Zoom panel discussion with distinguished artists Patrizia Ferreira, Holly Wong, and Michael Sylvan Robinson. Learn about these artists' inspirational practices and creative processes during a lunchtime talk moderated by WMQFA curator Emily Schlemowitz.

About the Artists:
Patrizia Ferreira is a textile designer from Madison, WI. She teaches embroidery and jewelry making throughout the state and is currently working on a series of embroidered portraits using plastics and other recycled materials. Many of her embroideries begin as paintings inspired by her travels and love of nature.

Holly Wong creates installations, assemblages, and works on paper integrating nontraditional approaches with more traditional sewing techniques often associated with the history of women. Based in San Francisco, she has had over 70 group exhibitions and 10 solo exhibitions.

Michael Sylvan Robinson begins his fiber-based works with textiles selected for their elaborate patterns that he then he transforms through labor-intensive hand stitching and beadwork, buttons, costume jewelry, found objects, and appliquéd pieces. Originally a costume designer and performance artist, his work includes two-dimensional works, sculptural pieces, and installations frequently set in his Brooklyn neighborhood.

Registration for the panel discussion is not required.
