Architectural Abstraction With Fiber Artist Pat Bishop

  • Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Want to expand your creativity without quilting rules or rulers? In this class you will learn about the abstract and how to think abstractly. Our focus will be on simple buildings such as barns, sheds or other basic structures. Come with an open mind and a sense of adventure.

In this two day class, you will produce a large, straight stitch quilting piece, approximately 18” x 24”, without any free motion quilting. We will explore composition, foreground, background, blending the background, and other methods of abstraction. We will also delve more deeply into ways to abstract your inspiration photos/sketches.

We will work on what inspires you to begin your abstract creation and will focus on “simplification” as one method to get your juices flowing. You can take it from there in any direction you choose. My goal is to remove the fear of failure and help you be successful.

Bring your projects in progress or planning, whether they are sewing, quilting, mending, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, tatting, weaving, or any other fiber art.  Schedule some “me” time to get that project finished, or just to spend the day with like-minded folks who flow with creativity.
